ShareFest Santa Cruz County 2009 Prayer Points

ShareFest Santa Cruz County 2009 is an awesome opportunity to pray for the following areas of need.  Pray regularly and on an ongoing basis as the ShareFest approaches.  This is not an exhaustive list – but it’s a vital one for the spiritual and social impact we hope to have on our county and its cities through ShareFest Santa Cruz County 2009.

Please pray for:

Unity Among the Evangelical Churches in Santa Cruz County

“Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.” Ephesians 4:3

Pray for unity of heart, mind and purpose for all churches, para-church organizations and individuals who participate in ShareFest Santa Cruz County 2009.  Ask God to enable us to remember that this ShareFest is about ALL of us in Christ and not about any one of us. Pray that we will work together as one body in our Lord Jesus Christ.  Pray that we let the world know how much God loves them and that He has sent His Son for them.

A Heart to Evangelize Those in Need of Christ’s Love & Truth

“..so that those who have believed God may be careful to engage in good deeds.  These things are good and profitable for men.” Titus 3:8
“Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works,& glorify your Father who is in heaven.” Matthew 5:16

Pray that the focus of ShareFest Santa Cruz County 2009 will be Christ-like acts of love and kindness in Jesus’ name.  Our desire is that others will see Christ and not us.  Pray that every service project be a beginning of a relationship between the one serving and the one being served.  Ask God to connect us with individuals.  Ask God’s blessing in advance on them, their children and their families. Bless each neighborhood resident we are able to touch with God’s love. Pray that Jesus brings through us a harvest of social goodwill and spiritual life.

The Same Attitude Jesus Has Toward the Outcasts of Society and the Emotionally Hurting

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives, & recovery of sight to the blind, to set free the downtrodden, to proclaim the favorable year of the Lord.” Luke 4:18-19

Ask God to deeply touch our hearts with the plight of the homeless, the destitute, and the broken-hearted.  As we clean up parks, beautify schools, de-litter beaches and serve our cities in other ways – pray that we keep mindful of the condition of the human hearts around us. Ask for compassion like Jesus felt when He looked upon the harvest and wept.  That we see people and not service projects.  Pray with compassion for the people of your city.

Our Spiritual Leaders and Their Families

“Pray for us, for we are…desiring to conduct ourselves honorably in all things.” Hebrews 13:7, 18

Pray for our pastors, our church leadership teams, and the ShareFest leadership team.  Ask God for protection, wisdom, strength and servant attitudes.  Pray for protection from the attacks of the enemy over their families.  Ask God to show them how to practically balance ministry and family needs.  That He enable them to say “yes” and “no” to ministry requests when it is appropriate – and grant them the discernment to know how to respond.  Pray for the protection of their marriages and that God would bless them with deep joy and emotional satisfaction.

Our County and City Officials & Leaders

“…I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings be made on behalf of all men, kings and all who are in authority…” 1 Timothy 2:1, 2

Pray also for our local government officials.  Ask God to help them rule in the fear of God.  Ask Him to keep them free from covetousness and immorality.  Ask Him to enable them to avoid misusing their power, position and possessions. That they be leaders of wisdom with teachable-spirits – full of mercy and truth.  That they be kept free from bribery, corruption and flattery.  That they have hearts for the poor, and are charitable and compassionate toward them.
