Got Questions?

In the information that follows, we have attempted to answer some of the common questions which may arise regarding ShareFest Santa Cruz County.

What is ShareFest?
ShareFest is an event sponsored by area churches to demonstrate God’s love by reaching out to those in need within Santa Cruz County with community service and giving.

Who is sponsoring ShareFest?
The sponsoring organization for ShareFest is the Evangelical Ministers Fellowship of Santa Cruz County. The Evangelical Ministers Fellowship is comprised of leaders from a cross-section of Christian churches in the county.

What is the purpose of ShareFest?
The purpose of ShareFest is four-fold:

to meet real needs within the community, much as Jesus Christ did throughout His ministry
to unite churches in the county
to demonstrate the love of Jesus Christ
to provide a foundation of relationship and community to nurture and grow throughout the year between local churches and those in need

Who can participate?
All people and churches in Santa Cruz County area are encouraged to participate in ShareFest. Individuals should inquire through their church or contact ShareFest staff.

Who Do We Serve?
ShareFest is dedicated to making a difference in Santa Cruz County. While projects vary from year to year, in the past, members have participated in county-wide projects such as providing school supplies to children, home repairs and painting, facility renovation, cleanup projects, donation drives, construction projects, senior citizen visitation, and making meals for public servants.

When Is ShareFest 2009?
This year ShareFest Community Service Day is on Saturday, October 24. The Food Drive is during October, and the Blood Drive details will be announced.

What kinds of projects are done, and how are they chosen?
The projects are intended to benefit those in our community who are the most in need. We provide a list of available projects to organizations who desire to be involved, or your organization may select projects on its own. Typical projects might include painting, cleaning, repairing, or generally sprucing up schools, nursing homes, or parks and playgrounds.

How do I get involved with ShareFest?
Check out our How Do We Get In page for more information on how to sign up as a partnering church.

What are the advantages of being a ShareFest Partner Organization?
By uniting with other Christian organizations in our community, your organization will be energized and catch a greater vision for reaching out to our county. Serving the community as a united church provides a powerful witness to the community of the love of Christ.

My organization has its own community projects and ministries. Why join with ShareFest?
When your organization is engaged in its own community projects and ministries, much good is accomplished. However, these activities can often go unnoticed by the larger community. ShareFest represents an opportunity for your organization to visibly demonstrate the love of Jesus through the unified church, which provides double the impact — service and unity.

To participate does my organization have to be involved in all parts of ShareFest?
No. We do hope that organizations will choose to be involved in all four components of ShareFest, but each organization should determine which level of involvement is appropriate for them. You can choose to participate in one, two, three or all aspects of the ShareFest weekend.

How should we organize within our church for ShareFest participation?
We recommend each church identify a minimum of one person as their ShareFest Coordinator. Each church will be responsible to not only identify the projects they wish to work on, but will also need to organize all efforts and materials required for each project.

How do I get more information?
Please feel free to contact us by using one of the methods on our Contact Us page.

What Is It?

ShareFest began as an event sponsored by many area churches to demonstrate God’s love by reaching out to those in need within Santa Cruz County during a weekend of service and giving. It’s developed into continuing activities during the year for volunteers from local churches to assist public schools, shelters, and others serving the community.

What kinds of projects are done, and how are they chosen?
Each church will decide if they want to identify their own projects and focus within their immediate church neighborhood or do a “city reach” project in one of the cities of Santa Cruz County. If your church needs suggestions, we have some available. Typical projects could include painting, fixing, cleaning, or beautifying schools, senior homes; or perhaps sprucing up playgrounds in public parks or schools. In 2008 ShareFest volunteers helped with the logistics of the Access To Employment Job Fair.

What is needed from my church?

Fill out and fax in the Partnering Church Signup Form (forms can be found on this website or a packet will be mailed to you).
Select a project and participate on the ShareFest workday. (The city is preparing projects for us — call if you would like us to help you select a project).
Select a person who will be the Liaison for your church.

Optional Activities
You can be part of Food Drives and Blood Drives during the month.
